Williams Quartz Star HQS1GWHC - 1 Door White Colorbond Upright Display Fridge 740mm 500L
The Williams Quartz Star HQS1GWHC is a 500 litre single glass door display fridge, made in Australia for cafes, takeaways, convenience stores and bars that sell cold drinks and packaged food straight from the fridge. It holds +1°C to +4°C in rooms up to 40°C, runs on R290 refrigerant from a standard 10 amp plug, and finishes in white Colorbond inside and out. What sets the Quartz Star apart from the Williams Pearl range is its bottom-mounted refrigeration: the whole system sits in a removable cassette under the cabinet, which keeps the top clear and makes servicing simpler. The HQS1GBHC is the same fridge in black, and the HQS1SWHC has a solid door instead of glass.
Key features:
- Triple-glazed glass door with cool white LED strip lighting and a soft-touch on/off dimmer switch
- 500 litres of storage with 4 adjustable plastic-coated shelves on strips and clips
- Holds +1°C to +4°C and is rated for room temperatures up to 40°C
- CoolSmart electronic controller for even temperatures and lower running costs
- Bottom-mounted refrigeration in a removable cassette, so the system slides out for maintenance
- Warm air from the evaporator is directed up the front of the glass to help reduce condensation
- Waste heat recovery vaporiser deals with defrost water, so no drain is needed
- Auto defrost and R290 natural hydrocarbon refrigerant
- White Colorbond interior and exterior with a stainless steel internal floor
- Threaded castors that can be swapped for legs, and designed and built in Dandenong South, Victoria

Good to know before you buy:
- Access: the cabinet is 2000mm high on its castors, 740mm wide and 740mm deep, and weighs 160 kg. It is delivered by tailgate truck to the front of your premises, so check door heights and the path to where it will stand. Lower castors (1965mm overall) and 150mm legs are options.
- Power: plugs into a standard 10 amp power point with a 2 m cable. No electrician is needed.
- Airflow: the refrigeration cassette breathes at the base of the cabinet, so keep the lower grille clear and leave a little space around the unit.
- Drain: none needed. The vaporiser evaporates the defrost water.
Compare similar models:
- Williams HQS1GBHC: the same fridge in a black Colorbond finish
- Williams HQS1SWHC: solid door storage version, rated for rooms up to 43°C
- Williams HQS1GSHC: stainless steel interior and exterior
- Williams HQS2GWHC: two glass doors, 900 litres, 1225mm wide
- Williams HP1GWHC: Pearl range equivalent with top-mounted refrigeration, 520 litres
Common questions:
Why choose bottom-mounted refrigeration?
The compressor and condenser sit in a cassette under the cabinet instead of on top. The cassette slides out for maintenance, the cabinet stays at 2000mm high overall, and there is nothing on the roof to collect grease and dust.
Does it need a drain or plumbing?
No. The waste heat recovery vaporiser evaporates defrost water, so a 10 amp power point is all it needs. We supply the equipment only.
Can I get it with a lock, legs or a pass-through door?
Yes. Cylindrical locks, 150mm legs, lower castors, heated glass, warm LED lights, extra shelves and pass-through doors are available at the time of order. Ask us for details.
