What is a dual temp fridge freezer?
A dual temperature fridge freezer, also called a combination fridge freezer, is a single commercial cabinet split into two compartments: one holds chilled food at fridge temperature and the other holds frozen stock at freezer temperature. You get both types of storage in the footprint of one unit, built to the same commercial standard as a stand-alone fridge or freezer.
Who is a combination unit best for?
- Small cafes and takeaways that need some frozen storage but not a whole freezer.
- Food trucks and kiosks where floor space is extremely tight.
- Satellite kitchens and bars that need a little of both close to service.
How to choose a dual temp fridge freezer
Upright or under bench?
Upright combination units hold the most. The Skipio SRFT25-2 holds 508 litres and the SRFT45-2 holds 1,014 litres, and the Atosa YBF9239 is a top-mounted double door dual temp model. Under bench combination units add a stainless steel prep top, like the Skipio SURF12-2 (262 litres), SURF15-2 (368 litres) and three door SURF18-3 (487 litres).
Temperatures
The fridge side should hold food at 5°C or below, as Australian food safety rules require, and the freezer side should keep stock hard frozen at around -18°C. Check that each compartment has its own easy-to-read temperature display.
Space and ventilation
Measure the space, allow for the door swing and leave the ventilation gap shown in the manual so the unit can run efficiently in a busy kitchen.

For small to medium volumes, yes. It is built to the same commercial standard. If you need large amounts of frozen storage, a separate upright freezer will give you more capacity.
