What a vegetable prep machine does

A vegetable prep machine (also called a vegetable slicer or veg cutter) feeds produce through a hopper onto a spinning disc. Changing the disc changes the cut: thin or thick slices, fine or coarse grating, julienne strips, dice or chips. Most machines drop the cut product straight into a GN pan under the outlet.

Choosing a vegetable prep machine

• Output: compact benchtop models suit cafes and restaurants; heavy-duty models handling around 500 kg an hour suit busy kitchens, caterers and institutions.
• Hoppers: a large hopper speeds up bulk work, while small round feed tubes keep long vegetables like carrots and cucumbers upright for neat slices.
• Discs: check which discs are included. Extra slicing, grating, dicing and chip discs can be added to suit your menu.
• Combination machines: if you also need a cutter mixer, a combination machine saves bench space and cost.

Vegetable prep FAQs

Are slicing discs included?

The PREP4YOU models come with three discs: 2 mm and 5 mm slicers and a 3 mm grater. The TRS-500 and TRK machines are supplied without discs so you can choose the cuts you need from our slicing discs, grating discs, shredding discs and dicing and chip grids.

Can I cut chips with a vegetable prep machine?

Yes, with a chip grid or shredding disc fitted. For the TRS-500 and TRK machines, use a 6 x 6, 8 x 8 or 10 x 10 mm chip grid or shredding disc. PREP4YOU chip discs are available to order.
