What is a ductless exhaust hood?
A traditional kitchen canopy captures cooking fumes and sends them through ductwork to an exhaust fan on the roof or an outside wall. A ductless exhaust hood captures and filters the fumes inside the unit, then returns cleaned air to the room, so no ducting, roof penetration or external fan is needed. That makes it ideal for cafes in shopping centres, food courts, heritage buildings, office canteens and kitchens where running ductwork is impractical or very expensive.

Is a ductless hood right for my kitchen?
The Simco Hood ductless system is designed for electric cooking equipment such as electric fryers, griddles, combi and convection ovens and induction cooktops. Gas cooking equipment generally needs a ducted exhaust system. Requirements for commercial kitchen exhaust vary between councils and buildings, so check with your local council, building manager or a mechanical services professional before you buy. We are happy to help with product information for your application.
Care and maintenance
The filters do the work of a ductless hood, so clean and replace them on the schedule set out in the manual. A well-maintained hood keeps filtering effectively and runs quietly.
