Why choose an underbench dishwasher?

An underbench dishwasher is the right size for cafes, bars, small restaurants, childcare centres and staff kitchens. It fits under a standard bench, loads from the front like a domestic machine, and runs short commercial cycles with a high temperature final rinse, so you get clean, sanitised dishes in minutes instead of an hour.

How to choose an underbench dishwasher

Capacity and cycle time

The Asber GE-500BDD handles up to 30 baskets an hour with 90, 120 and 180 second cycles. The Norris AP500 is designed for two minute back-to-back cycles. Think about how many racks of plates, cups and cutlery you wash in your busiest hour.

Wash and rinse temperatures

Commercial dishwashers wash at around 60°C and finish with a hot rinse of around 85°C, which sanitises everything in the load. The Asber GE-500BDD, for example, washes at 60°C and rinses at 85°C.

Hot or cold water connection

Some machines rely on a hot water supply. The Norris AP500 is designed to connect to cold water, so it is never caught short by a building hot water system that cannot keep up.

Power

The Madison Bantam runs on a standard 10 amp outlet, which makes it an easy fit for small venues. Other models need a 15 amp or larger supply, so check the electrical requirements on each product page.

Drain pump, dispensers and build

A built-in drain pump, like on the Fagor CO-502BDD, lets you install the machine where the drain is higher than the outlet. Built-in detergent and rinse aid dispensers dose chemicals automatically, and double wall construction keeps the machine quieter and holds heat in.

Installation and care

Commercial dishwashers need a water connection and a drain installed by a licensed plumber, and the right power supply installed by a licensed electrician. Scrape dishes before loading, empty and clean the filters daily, and fit a water softener in hard water areas to prevent scale.

Can I use a domestic dishwasher in a cafe?

A domestic dishwasher takes an hour or more per cycle and is not built for commercial use; its warranty usually does not cover it. A commercial machine washes and sanitises a load in a couple of minutes.

When should I choose an upright dishwasher instead?

When you are washing many racks an hour, larger trays or pots. A pass-through upright dishwasher handles higher volumes and is easier on staff backs.

Do you deliver Australia-wide?
