What is a potato oven?
A commercial potato oven bakes jacket potatoes and then keeps them hot in an illuminated display, so they're ready to serve the moment a customer orders. Inside is a fan-assisted convection oven; on top, a lit display cabinet shows off the cooked potatoes. They suit cafes, takeaways, food courts, servos, markets, school canteens and event caterers that want a simple, filling hot food line without a full kitchen.
How to choose a potato oven
- Capacity: match the oven to your busiest service. Our range runs from 20 to 25 potatoes per bake up to 100.
- Style: the King Edward Prestige has traditional cast doors, painted panels and brass detailing for maximum visual impact. The Classic is a simpler, black satin design. The Bake King sits between the two and can also bake pastries and cakes. The Majesty is the largest model.
- Power: the 25-potato models plug into a standard 10 amp power point. The 50-potato models and the Bake King need a 15 amp power point. The Majesty runs on a 32 amp single phase supply, which a licensed electrician must install.
- Size: countertop models start at 450mm wide. Check the height too, as the display sits on top of the oven: from 610mm for the Prestige 25 up to 1200mm for the Majesty.
- Toppings: plan where hot fillings will sit. A small countertop bain marie keeps toppings hot next to the oven.

Tips for selling baked potatoes
- Bake in batches ahead of your peak, then hold the cooked potatoes in the illuminated display so service is quick.
- Hot food on display should be held at 60°C or hotter. Check with a probe thermometer.
- Offer a few hot fillings from a bain marie and a few cold ones from a chilled display, so one oven covers every season.
- Put the oven where customers can see it: the lit display does the selling.
- Wipe the interior and empty crumbs daily; the rounded stainless corners and removable shelves make this quick.

Potato oven FAQs
How many potatoes can I cook at once?
King Edward rates the 25 models at 20 to 25 potatoes and the 50 models at 50 to 60. The Bake King cooks up to 60 in under 60 minutes, and the Majesty up to 100 in 60 minutes, with room for another 100 in its display.
Do potato ovens need an exhaust canopy?
King Edward describes its potato ovens as needing no exhaust fan or canopy. Check with your landlord or local council if you're unsure what your site requires.
Can I cook other food in a potato oven?
The Bake King is designed as a multi-purpose countertop convection oven and can also bake delicate products such as pastries and cakes.
What's the difference between the Prestige and the Classic?
Both bake the same number of potatoes for their size. The Prestige is the flagship, with traditional cast doors, painted panels and solid brass embellishments. The Classic is a more economical, simpler design in black satin.
Do you install them?
We supply the equipment only. Most models simply plug in to a 10 or 15 amp power point; the Majesty needs a 32 amp circuit installed by a licensed electrician.
What warranty applies?
King Edward potato ovens come with a 12 month warranty, supported by Meris Food Equipment, the Australian distributor.
