The Santos #01BAR Barista Edition is a coffee grinder whose design is based on the original Santos grinder from 1954, and it was the official grinder of the 2019 and 2021 French Barista Championships. It dispenses coffee directly through an ergonomic spout, and a precise micrometric scale sets the grind size. It suits specialty cafes and coffee shops grinding to order; unlike the automatic #59 and #55BFK, it is a manual grinder with an on/off and pulse button rather than portafilter detection.

Common questions:

Does coffee get held back in the grinder?
Santos lists no coffee retention for the #01BAR: ground coffee goes straight out through the spout, so each dose is freshly ground.

Can it grind for filter and plunger as well as espresso?
Yes. Santos says the micrometric setting suits all types of filtration, including espresso, filter and French press, so one grinder can cover your espresso and filter coffee.

Is it suited to small amounts?
Yes. Santos says the 1 kg hopper lets it grind small amounts of coffee, ideal for specialty coffee. Use the pulse button to top up a dose.
