Where counter length is tight but you still want plenty of cakes on show, the Williams Topaz Cake Display HTGH9HC stacks three adjustable shelves plus the base into a 900mm wide cabinet. It is the tall (1380mm) version of the HTG9HC, 800mm deep instead of 680mm, with four lit display levels in all. The front, top and sides are heated double-glazed glass, staff serve through argon-filled sliding doors at the rear, and the cabinet holds +2°C to +8°C in a 38°C, 65% humidity room. It runs on R290 natural refrigerant from a 10 amp plug.

Good to know before you buy:
- Access: it ships in a crate, and Williams notes a forklift is required for handling. Delivery is by tailgate truck to the front of your premises; from there you need enough hands to uncrate 240 kg and roll it in on its castors. At 1380mm high and 800mm deep, measure the doorway and the counter space first.
- Power: standard 10 amp power point, 2 m cable, 5 A while running. Use a dedicated outlet.
- Airflow: rear breathing, so leave a gap behind it and keep the rear vent clean.
- Counter height: at 1380mm the top shelf sits at eye level for most customers, which suits a front-of-counter position rather than a serving counter you need to see over.
