Orved FAQs
What is the difference between an external sealer and a chamber vacuum packer?
An external sealer draws the air out through the open end of the bag, so it needs channel (embossed) bags and cannot pack liquids. A chamber machine removes the air from the whole chamber, so it works with cheaper smooth bags and can pack soups, sauces and marinades.
Which Orved should I choose?
Match the seal bar to your widest bag and the chamber height to your thickest product. The Evox models suit cafes and small restaurants, the Idea 30 and 31 suit busy restaurants, the Idea 40 to 42 and VM41 suit butchers and caterers, and the VM45 and VM61 suit high-volume production.
Which bags do I need?
Chamber machines (the Evox, Idea and VM models) use smooth vacuum bags, or cooking bags for sous vide. External sealers (the Vacuum Family, Eco Vac and Fast Vac) need channel bags or channel bag rolls. Choose a bag narrower than the seal bar.
What does gas ready mean?
The Idea 31 and Idea 41 can be connected to a gas supply to flush the bag with gas before it is sealed (modified atmosphere packaging, or MAP). This stops delicate foods such as sliced meats, cheese and baked goods being crushed by the vacuum.
Do I need an electrician?
Only for the VM61, which runs on 400V three-phase power and must be connected by a licensed electrician. The other Orved models run on single-phase 240V power.
What warranty applies?
The external sealers, the Evox models and the Idea 30 and 31 have a 12 month back to base warranty. The Idea 40, 41 and 42 and the VM41, VM45 and VM61 have a 12 month warranty.
