About Spidocook

Spidocook makes compact electric cooking equipment in Italy. Its Spidoglass sandwich presses combine infrared and contact heat on glass cooking plates. Spidocook says they heat up in half the time of a conventional press and use 60% less energy, and the non-porous glass is easy to clean and doesn't absorb flavours. The range also covers the BBQ Master contact grill, Spidoflat glass-ceramic griddles, the Caldolux slow cook and hold oven and Caldobake convection ovens for bakery and pastry. Meris Food Equipment is the Australian distributor.

Spidocook FAQs

Should I choose transparent or black Spidoglass plates?

The transparent smooth plates are built for speed and crispness, which suits toasted sandwiches, burgers and croissants. The black plates, smooth or with a ribbed top for grill marks, give more even cooking control and suit meats, seafood, vegetables and dishes with lots of filling.

Do Spidocook products plug into a standard power point?

Some do. A standard power point is 10 amp. The single Spidoglass presses, the Eco versions of the large and double presses, the single XPRO, the Caldolux and the Caldobake L4 SPE-SF023AS all run on 10 amp. Most other models need a 15 amp power point, which a licensed electrician can fit. The Spidoflat SPE-SP300 is 25 amp and comes with no cord or plug, so a licensed electrician must connect it.

What does the Spidoglass XPRO add?

Digital temperature control up to 350°C, four fixed temperature settings, up to four programs with your own times and temperatures, and a standby mode that cuts power use during quiet times without switching the press off. It has black smooth plates and comes in single or double size.

What is the Caldolux used for?

Slow cooking at up to 120°C and holding at up to 100°C, for roast meats, vegetables, curries and pasta dishes. A core probe senses when cooking is done and switches the oven to holding automatically. Spidocook says it needs no hood or canopy, and it runs on a standard 10 amp power point.

Do Caldobake ovens come with trays?

Yes, except the S4 (SPE-SF043AS). The other models come with flat aluminium trays. The S4 takes 600 x 400mm trays, which are sold separately. Extra trays and racks are available for each size.
