Types of commercial food processors
- Cutter mixers have a bowl with a fast-spinning blade rotor for chopping, mincing, grinding, mixing, emulsifying sauces and kneading small batches of dough. A bowl scraper keeps the mix moving for smooth results.
- Combination cutter and vegetable slicers combine a cutter mixer bowl with a vegetable slicer attachment, so one motor base handles both jobs. Swap the bowl for the slicer head to slice, grate, shred, dice or cut chips.
Choosing a food processor
- Bowl size: 2.6 to 3.6 litre bowls suit cafes and small restaurants; 4.5 to 7 litre bowls suit busy kitchens and caterers.
- Bowl material: clear copolyester bowls let you see the mix; stainless steel bowls are tougher and handle hot or heavy preparations.
- Speed: single-speed models are simple and affordable. Variable speed gives finer control for emulsions, purees and delicate chopping.
- Cleaning and safety: look for tool-free, dishwasher-safe parts and safety switches that stop the blades when the lid or lever is opened.

Food processor FAQs
What is the difference between a cutter mixer and a vegetable slicer?
A cutter mixer works inside a bowl to chop, mix and emulsify. A vegetable slicer pushes produce through a spinning disc to make uniform slices, gratings, julienne, dice or chips. Combination machines do both.
Do these food processors need three-phase power?
No. All the food processors, bowl cutters and cheese graters in this range run on single-phase 240V power.
